Thinking about the Story
Explain This Page

Can you explain what the students are doing on this page from the book?
What is this student doing?

What different pets were featured in the story?
What different plans did they try to catch the pets?
Which pet is he trying to catch and why is this funny?
Our Class Pet Activity for today!
- Β Which pet are you going to try to catch?
- How can you safely catch this pet and bring it back to the classroom?
- Draw your plan.
- Label parts of your plan to help explain.
- Build a model of a pet trap with Legos.
- Clean up – please don’t mix in the plastic animals with the Legos!
Note from Mrs. Allard: if you spend the entire time on making the plan and NOT doing the Lego build, that is fine!
Remember, we want to capture the pet safely!
1st Grade Intro

Hello first graders! This will be the first year that you get to bring computers to my classroom. We are not ready quite yet to start that, but we will be bringing them in to use for lots of different things. It will take a while to get used to logging in and how to navigate computers. but you will get the hang of it.Β
This will help us for many years to come. Computers are not just something to play games on – they are tools for learning and discovery!
